BCWMC Holds September 15 Public Hearing on Proposed Bassett Creek and Plymouth Creek Projects

Wed, Aug 10, 2016

On Thursday, September 15, 2016, the Bassett Creek Watershed Management Commission holds a public hearing during its monthly meeting starting at 8:30 a.m. at Golden Valley City Hall in the second floor Council Conference Room (7800 Golden Valley Road, Golden Valley, MN 55427). The purpose of the hearing is to hear testimony and comments from the public and cities regarding the proposed capital improvements:

The Bassett Creek Main Stem Erosion Repair Project (2017CR-M) in the city of Minneapolis will stabilize stream banks to reduce erosion along Bassett Creek near the Fruen Mill and from Cedar Lake Road to the entrances of both the new and old tunnels at Dupont Avenue North and 2nd Avenue North, respectively. Full project details are on the Bassett Creek Main Stem Erosion Repair Project page.

The Plymouth Creek Channel Restoration Project (2017CR-P) in the city of Plymouth will stabilize and restore the stream banks along Plymouth Creek within Plymouth Creek Park and between Fernbrook Lane North and Annapolis Lane North. The goals for the restoration are to stabilize stream banks, reduce stream bank erosion to reduce the amount of sediment and pollutants entering the stream and flowing downstream to Medicine Lake, and to improve stream habitat for fish and other aquatic life. Full project details are on the Plymouth Creek Channel Restoration Project page.
